Delivery TV 1000 Station Nord Greenland

Delivery TV 1000 Station Nord Greenland

In May 2015 Øveraasen had the great pleasure of delivering 1 pc TV 1000 to the Danish Army Station North in Greenland.

This is the first of three machines delivered to the Danish Army (DALO).

All three machines are going to Greenland, respectively 2 machines to Station Nord and 1 machine to Forsvarets Vagt Mestervig 1000 km south of North Station.

The machines will be operating 365 days a year since flying is the only way to reach the stations throughout the year.

The machines will operating under the most extreme conditions and it is expected that the machines work 110% when the air temperature shows -50°C with wind speeds up to 30 m/s as it would do with an air temperature of 0°C and wind speed of 5 m/s.

The machines also runs on aviation fuel as normal diesel is not available at the stations.

The first TV 1000 was flown in to Station Nord by the Ukrainian transport aircraft Ilyushin Il 76. This is one of the world's largest transport aircraft, but in spite the size of the aircraft some big components had to be dismounted from the TV 1000 to make it fit inside the aircraft.

After arriving at Stion Nord the machine was assembled by two technicians from Øveraasen and a man from our chassis supplier Titan.

They spent just under three days at this job and after this the machine were thoroughly tested and DALOs men got the necessary training to operate this machine on their own in the arctic climate.

This is one of the most exotic deliveries in the company history and we are very proud and grateful that DALO chose Øveraasen as their supplier of self-propelled snow blowers.
