100 YEARS IN SNOW!

What did founder, Even Øveraasen, dream about when he developed and produced the world's first snow plough for mounting on a car?

We doubt he dreamed that what he and his brother Hans Øveraasen developed in 1923 would  celebrate a big anniversary 100 years later. A development that has been the very foundation of the company for the past 100 years.

Although the company was founded as a engine factory in 1908, there is no doubt that the company's strategy for 100 years has been focused on snow removal equipment.

In the years between the two world wars, the company grew rapidly within this segment, and already then the company's products were noticed far beyond Norway's borders. It didn't take many years before the ploughs were exported to Persia in the east and America in the west.

Since then, Øveraasen has been Scandinavia's leading manufacturer of heavy snow removal equipment.

Today, Øveraasen equipment can be found all over the world from Australia "down under", China in the east, North America in the west, Antarctica in the south, as well as Greenland and Svalbard in the north.

Today, as then, all development and new construction take place in Gjøvik. Although clearing snow on roads is the company's cornerstone, the company has also gained a strong position when it comes to the development of snow removal equipment for airports. The products from Gjøvik clear snow on runways, taxiways and aprons. Not to forget railway products, a small but very important market for Øveraasen.

The company, which was established as an engine factory by Hans and Even Øveraasen in 1908, developed the world's first snow plough for mounting on a car in 1923. Now, 100 years after, the company still has a clear strategy: "Øveraasen will invest time and resources on snow removal products for roads and streets in the years to come."

In 2023 and in the years ahead, the company's strategy is clear:

Øveraasen will be the world's best supplier of snow removal equipment for airports, roads and railways, and the products will excel through sustainable innovation, construction, capacity, economic operation and reliability.
